Managed Services

Governance as a Service: managed AI governance that runs every week

From policy to practice

Your AI policy sets the rules. Governance as a Service makes them work for every new use case, every vendor update and every exception.

A senior Pulse & Patterns governance lead works alongside your business, legal, risk, security and technology teams and runs the cycle on ServiceNow AI Control Tower: new AI registered as it appears, each decision routed to its owner, exceptions closed and evidence kept current. If AI Control Tower is not in place yet, we implement it first.

Your organization keeps the decisions, and the accountability for them.

What you get

An AI governance process that runs between the meetings

Governance as a Service is an ongoing managed service that operates your agreed AI governance processes on ServiceNow AI Control Tower: reviewing new use cases, keeping the inventory and owners current, closing exceptions, maintaining evidence and preparing the decisions leadership needs to make. You get a working process, not another policy document.

What happens every cycle
01

Find

New AI use cases, systems and vendor features

Material changes to what already runs

02

Register

Each record complete, with the required information

Business, technical, data, vendor and oversight owners confirmed

03

Review

The agreed review level applied, unclear or high-impact cases escalated

Policy exceptions and open risk actions reviewed

Evidence, vendor information, controls and review dates checked

04

Report

Decisions, trade-offs and overdue actions surfaced to the right people

The register updated, inactive items closed or retired

We set the cadence and review depth around your scope and your risk profile. A fortnightly review on a fast-moving agent estate and a quarterly one on three stable systems are both right, for different organizations.

What changes for the business

Ongoing oversight, without building a large specialist team of your own.

Your inventory matches what actually runs

Not what was true at the last audit.

Everyone knows who decides

Each use case has an owner with the authority to answer for it.

Exceptions get closed

Instead of quietly becoming the normal route.

The evidence exists before anyone asks

Kept current as the work happens, not rebuilt for a deadline.

Inventory and owners

Know what AI you run, and who owns each piece of it

An AI inventory is the starting point that makes governance possible. We keep one record in AI Control Tower for every AI system and use case, wherever it runs.

An employee tool

07
An embedded feature

Every AI use case needs a named owner before it needs another control.

›

In a smaller organization a role can be shared. What matters is that somebody has the authority to answer the question.

AI agents

Governance for AI agents and systems that keep changing

An AI agent may read information, make a decision, call tools or change records in other systems. We govern it by what it can do: identity, permissions, human approval, auditability, exceptions and the ability to stop it. The use case and its actions decide how much review an agent needs, not the label.

The checks are simple
›What can the agent access?
›Which actions can it take without approval?
›Who owns it?
›Can a person stop it?
›Can you reconstruct what it did?
Review proportionate to the use case
01

Lighter path

Internal, low-impact uses.

02

More review

Customer-facing uses and sensitive data.

03

Formal risk and legal input

Possible high-risk or externally branded agents.

These are our operating levels, set against your risk profile. They are not legal categories under the EU AI Act.

Evidence and measures

Evidence that is ready when someone asks for it

Governance should create a record people can use. We keep the evidence current as the work happens, so you can always show why a control is appropriate, who made the decision and what happens next.

You will not get a single compliance score from us.

One number hides missing evidence and creates confidence nobody has earned.

Built into what you already run

AI governance built into the processes you already run

AI governance touches data protection, security, vendor management, procurement, architecture, change management and internal audit. We add the AI question to the processes you already run, such as your data protection impact assessment (DPIA) under GDPR, your vendor review or your change board, and define a new step only where none fits. Your teams get one governance route, with no duplicated governance and no loss of control.

Runs on AI Control Tower

Governance as a Service runs on AI Control Tower

Governance as a Service runs on ServiceNow AI Control Tower. It is the system of record for your AI inventory, governance workflows, controls and evidence, and every review, decision and exception is recorded there. If you do not have AI Control Tower yet, we implement it as the first phase of the service, sized to your governance scope. If you already run it, we start from your instance.

The service runs on the tool, the governance lead operates the process, your owners decide.

ServiceNow AI Risk and Compliance adds regulatory frameworks and assessment workflows where your scope needs them. The tool holds records, workflows, evidence and signals. The governance lead decides what those records mean, who must act and when. Your organization keeps the legal and business decision.

Technology can operationalize governance. It cannot decide your obligations for you.

The tooling itself: AI Control Tower.

Standards and regulation

ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act and NIST AI RMF: we get you ready

We help your organization get ready for the standards and regulations that apply to your AI, and stay ready as they change. We map your processes, controls and evidence to each one, and we run readiness training for the teams involved.

EU AI Act

Regulation

Your legal counsel interprets your obligations. We turn them into working processes and controls.

ISO/IEC 42001

Certifiable management system standard

We prepare your AI management system and its evidence. An accredited certification body runs the audit and decides on certification.

NIST AI RMF

Voluntary framework

A useful common structure for risk work, mapped to your processes and controls.

DPIA under GDPR

Data protection impact assessment

Stays with your data protection officer. We make sure every relevant AI use case reaches it.

Readiness is the work we do. Certification and legal conclusions stay with the bodies and people entitled to make them.

What stays with you

Accountability stays with you. We run the process behind it.

A managed governance service does not move accountability to the supplier. We prepare the information, operate the workflow, maintain the evidence and surface what needs a decision, so the people who hold those responsibilities can act on time.

We operate
›Prepare the information each decision needs
›Operate the governance workflow
›Maintain the evidence
›Surface what needs a decision, on time
Stays with you
›Business use
›Legal interpretation
›Risk acceptance
›The people affected
›The outcomes the AI system supports

We do not give legal advice. Where a formal interpretation is needed, we work alongside your legal counsel or recommend specialist advice.

How we run it with you

A senior governance lead, working alongside your team

A senior Pulse & Patterns governance lead works alongside your team, with direct access to the people who own AI decisions, and runs the cycle from intake to decision record. The lead is responsible for operating the cycle and owns any change to how it runs. Your owners make the decisions.

What we set up with you
›A defined scope of systems, use cases and vendors
›One intake route, so new use cases stop appearing in separate spreadsheets
›Named business, technical, risk, data, vendor and oversight owners
›A decision record with the owner, date, reasoning and next action
›A clear view of what is open, what was decided and what needs attention next
What you receive

An output pack agreed at the start and tied to your scope, such as the inventory, a decision and exception log, a risk register, review reports and an evidence pack for internal review or customer questions.

Reports nobody reads are a cost rather than a control.

When it fits, and where to start

When Governance as a Service is the right next step

01

You have an AI policy but no recurring process to apply it

02

AI arrives through software products faster than the inventory keeps up

03

Teams are building or buying agents and no one owns the review

04

Governance has to keep running after a readiness engagement

EU AI Act Readiness and Governance as a Service

EU AI Act Readiness gets the organization ready. Governance as a Service helps operate the governance afterward.

Each neighbor does a different job

EU AI Act Readiness identifies what has to be in place. Operating Model Design defines who owns and governs it. AI Control Tower is the tooling this service runs on. Fractional CAIO sets executive AI direction, and Governance as a Service runs the governance that direction calls for. Platform Governance looks after the ServiceNow platform itself.

Why Pulse & Patterns

We govern AI where it meets real business workflows

AI governance succeeds or fails where AI enters real business workflows, because that is where ownership and risk become practical questions. The practitioners who run your governance also implement AI Control Tower and the ServiceNow workflows around it, so decisions are built into controls instead of staying on paper.

We know both sides of what we govern

As a ServiceNow Consulting & Implementation and Resell Partner and an Anthropic Claude Consulting & Implementation Partner, we use ServiceNow for workflow and governance and Claude for the intelligence.

We run agents ourselves

As a BornAI company, we build and run AI agents in our own operations, under the same governance discipline.

The people who designed the model run it

The senior practitioners who run your reviews are the same people who designed the model. No account layer, and no governance team you never meet.

FAQs

The questions buyers ask us.

What is Governance as a Service?

›

Governance as a Service is an ongoing managed service that operates an organization's agreed AI governance processes on ServiceNow AI Control Tower. A senior governance lead runs the cycle alongside your team: new use cases, inventory, owners, exceptions, evidence and decisions. Your organization keeps accountability and final risk acceptance.

Do we need ServiceNow AI Control Tower for Governance as a Service?

›

Yes. The service runs on AI Control Tower, which holds the inventory, workflows, controls and evidence. If you do not have it yet, we implement it as the first phase. AI Control Tower records and signals, and the governance lead decides what needs action and who acts. Neither makes an organization compliant on its own.

Is this service only for AI?

›

Yes. Governance as a Service governs AI use cases, models, agents and the AI features inside the software you buy, wherever they run, including Anthropic Claude. Governance of the ServiceNow platform itself, its health, demand and upgrades, is Platform Governance. Data and architecture questions come into the review when an AI use case depends on them.

Can you get us certified for ISO/IEC 42001 or compliant with the EU AI Act?

›

We get you ready. We map your AI governance to ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act and the NIST AI RMF, build the processes, controls and evidence, and run readiness training for your teams. An accredited certification body decides on ISO/IEC 42001 certification, and your legal counsel decides what the EU AI Act requires of you.

Who stays accountable for AI governance?

›

Your organization does, for business decisions, legal interpretation, risk acceptance and the outcomes the AI system supports. Governance as a Service operates the agreed processes and prepares the evidence those decisions depend on. It does not replace your legal, risk, security, data or business owners, and we do not provide legal advice.

How is this different from a Fractional CAIO?

›

A Fractional CAIO gives you executive AI direction: strategy, priorities and a seat at the leadership table. Governance as a Service runs the governance that direction calls for, cycle by cycle, on AI Control Tower. The two often work together, with the CAIO setting policy and risk appetite and the governance lead handling every use case against it.

How does this relate to EU AI Act Readiness?

›

EU AI Act Readiness gets the organization ready. Governance as a Service helps operate the governance afterward. Readiness identifies what needs to be in place and where the gaps are. Governance as a Service then runs the agreed processes, every cycle.
